IdeaX is an opportunity for secondary students to develop a vision, and then through intensive research and advice-seeking from mentors, follow it through to its viable conclusion. Students will come to know that parameters are essential to avoid wasting time with an unfocused, far-flung exploration. Supported by a creative brief that lays out the strategic goals, demographic information, key attributes and specific visual and logistical criteria, students present their months-long investigative project to a panel of expert judges.⁠

Those that make it through the rigorous process of initial vetting, the secondary selection process, final presentations, and adjudications of first, second and third awards will receive cash scholarships from the Langley School District Foundation in amounts of up to $20,000. ⁠
