The Barley Merchant Brings BC Craft Beer Community Together To Support South Okanagan Friends
Chamber member The Barley Merchant Taproom & Kitchen is bringing BC’s craft beer community together on Thursday, September 3rd for Beer for a Cause, a one-day fundraiser supporting hospitality and craft beer industry friends impacted by the recent wildfires in Summerland and the surrounding South Okanagan.
The initiative came together after breweries and hospitality businesses in coastal BC began looking for a way to support fellow industry members facing the effects of the fires.
On September 3rd, The Barley Merchant will feature a special beer lineup that includes a number of beers from breweries directly affected by the fires, alongside beers from breweries that have stepped up to support the fundraising effort.
The Barley Merchant will donate 50% of all beer sales from the day to support those impacted.
Supporting breweries include Field House Brewing, Strange Fellows Brewing, Superflux Beer Company, Trading Post Brewing, Steel & Oak Brewing Co., Four Winds Brewing, Yellow Dog Brewing, Backcountry Brewing, Small Gods Brewing and Dageraad Brewing.
“BC’s craft beer industry has always been a community first,” says The Barley Merchant owner Tim LaHay. “When people in our industry are going through a difficult time, you want to find a way to help. This is an opportunity for our Langley community to enjoy some great BC beer, including beer from the breweries we’re coming together to support, while helping us raise meaningful funds for people who could use a hand.”
The Barley Merchant is inviting the Langley community to stop by on Thursday, September 3rd, enjoy a pint or flight, discover some great BC beer and help turn a day of drinking local into support for industry friends in the South Okanagan.
