"Addressing the Labour Market Gap" Report Released by BC Chamber of Commerce in Partnership with Langley Chamber

Developed in partnership and with support from the Langley Chamber, the BC Chamber of Commerce has released a new report entitled "Addressing the Labour Market Gap" which presents insights on the experiences of both employers and jobseekers in today's tight labour market.  These responses, gathered through province-wide survey data, will inform the solutions needed to bridge the gap between employer expectations and jobseeker aspirations.

The report finds that both employers and job seekers are having a harder time finding each other in most areas of the province. Over 60% of employers surveyed said it was harder to find qualified candidates now compared to prior to the pandemic while less than 40% of job seekers said it was harder to find jobs.

However, key disconnects between employers and job seekers in BC exist -- with employers citing a lack of the right skills as the primary barrier to finding workers, while jobseekers say appropriate salary is the biggest obstacle to them taking a position,
