Advocacy Win - Bus Service Finally Planned for Gloucester with Approval of new Translink Investment Plan

After many years of advocacy, including directly between the Langley Chamber and the Translink CEO, bus service is finally planned for Gloucester, bringing transit to the critical employment hub in northeast Langley.  The Langley Chamber applauds this new focus on expanding transit to industrial and employment centres, and welcomes the new, planned route.

Last week, TransLink’s 2025 Investment Plan was approved by the Mayors’ Council and TransLink’s Board of Directors. This plan will fund increases in bus service across the region, including creating new routes to key industrial areas which serve as important employment centres, including Gloucester in Langley, as well as Campbell Heights in Surrey and Tilbury in Delta.

Gloucester is home to over 200 businesses and 15,000 jobs but currently has no public transit service. This has limited economic growth in the area and made recruitment more difficult for employers. The inclusion of new service to Gloucester is a major win for Langley and for the Chamber’s continued fight for transit that better connects to employment centres.

Final details on the new route are to be confirmed, but it is expected to run peak-time, every 30-minutes, from Langley Centre along 56th avenue to Gloucester.   The Langley Chamber will continue to engage with Translink on this service expansion to ensure it best meets the needs of area businesses.
