Canada Post Strike Nears 1 Week

A national strike at Canada Post is nearing the one-week mark, disrupting mail service and parcel delivery for millions of Canadians and businesses, right at the start of the busy holiday shopping season.

Canada Post has confirmed that mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and no new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.

The Langley Chamber has heard from our members about the disruption this is causing, and as a result the Langley Chamber has asked the federal minister to intervene to ensure services remain operational while the parties negotiate. This issue matters because mail is used by many businesses to send invoices or receive payments, as cheques remain the most commonly-accepted form of payment for Canadian businesses.  Canada Post is also used widely by retailers to deliver products and purchases to consumers, and a disruption as we head into the holiday shopping season and Black Friday would be a challenge for many of them.
