Armed with the concerning results of its recent CEBA loan survey, the Langley Chamber met with Langley MP Tako Van Popta to advocate and built support for either an extension or repayment options that preserve the forgivable portion of this COVID-era loan.
The Chamber survey showed 81% of businesses who took federal CEBA loans are concerned with being able to make the coming repayment deadline, with business owners planning on tapping retirement savings, taking out new loans and even selling assets to come up with the money.
The Chamber urged MP Van Popta to push the federal government for either an extension of the deadline -- currently set for December 31, 2023 -- or for repayment options that allowed businesses to retain the loan forgiveness that is an important part of this loan program.
