Chamber Provides Recommendations for Township's Transportation and Mobility Strategy
The Township of Langley is updating its Transportation and Mobility Strategy, setting the direction for how people and goods will move through the community as it continues to grow.
With major changes on the horizon—including the arrival of SkyTrain and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)—this strategy will shape how customers, employees, and deliveries access businesses across Langley. The updated plan will address the full transportation network, including roads, transit, walking, cycling, and emerging mobility options, and how these systems support growth and development.
The Langley Chamber has made a fulsome written submission to the Township as part of this process, informed by input from our members, Policy Committee, and Board of Directors.
Our 22 recommendations focused on key business priorities including protecting and optimizing goods and freight movement, improving travel efficiency and reducing congestion, supporting reliable transit and transportation options, ensuring strong land use and transportation integration, and advancing practical infrastructure solutions such as coordinated construction, corridor improvements, and technology-driven traffic management. We are pleased to see most of our recommendations included in the draft plan, but we are continuing to advocate for a clearer focus on transportation efficiency through measures like travel time and reliability, stronger recognition of parking as critical infrastructure for commercial and retail access, and additional attention to the needs of agricultural businesses and rural road safety.
