Chamber to Host Ministry of Finance Briefing on PST Expansion, While Continuing to Push Back on New Tax
The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce will host a special online briefing with the BC Ministry of Finance to help businesses prepare for the expansion of Provincial Sales Tax to certain professional services coming on October 1.
The Chamber remains opposed to this expansion and continues to advocate against imposing additional costs and administrative burdens on BC businesses. At the same time, we want to ensure impacted members understand what will be required of them should the changes proceed as planned.
The session will provide practical guidance for businesses offering accounting and bookkeeping, architecture, engineering and geoscience, security, and non-residential real estate services.
Ministry representatives will outline:
- Which services will be subject to PST
- When and how businesses must register
- Potential exemptions and exceptions
- When PST must be charged and remitted
- Available resources to help businesses prepare and comply
Businesses that may be affected are encouraged to attend and begin preparing well before the October 1 implementation date.
