City Mayor Speaks to Chamber on Priorities, Goals and Outcomes at 'State of the City' Dinner
Langley City Mayor Nathan Pachal joined the Langley Chamber and 150 attendees on June 19 for the "State of the City" Dinner to provide an address and participate in a discussion on the City's achievements over the past year and the focus and priorities for the community going forward.
Mayor Pachal shared an overview video, embedded below, which outlined the approach of the City and some of the priority areas of focus for the municipality, before making his presentation which touched on key issues like development, transportation and community safety. In his presentation, the Mayor detailed the items such as the City's approach to helping tackle "up-stream" causes of crime, new innovations to speed up the approval and building process for housing, and efforts at creating more walkable, livable communities, among many others. Following the presentation, the Mayor sat down with Chamber CEO Cory Redekop for a discussion and Q&A on business issues such as property taxes and the impact on business, the de-integration of the RCMP, and the road and transportation network.
"The Chamber has the dual role of being a platform for connection and collaboration, as well as an advocate and ally for local businesses. Forums like this event with Mayor Pachal help us to serve both our missions by putting a diverse mix of business, community and government leaders in one room, to connect, listen, and learn," says Cory Redekop, CEO of the Langley Chamber.
Beyond the Mayor's presentation and discussion, attendees enjoyed great business connections and networking, dinner, and updates from the Chamber, from event sponsors FortisBC and Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, and from Chamber partner Export Navigator.
A recording of the Mayor's presentation will be available shortly, and the City's overview video can be viewed below:
