Fraser Highway One-Way Construction

Fraser Highway One-Way Construction

Fraser Highway One-Way Construction

The City of Langley is starting major construction along Fraser Highway, between Glover Road/204th and 206th street – the Fraser Highway one-way.

The project will upgrade and replace aging underground infrastructure and improve and revitalize streetscapes along the one-way, including widening sidewalks, planting trees and greenery, building new seating areas, and more.

This construction will result in partial closures of the one-way in two construction phases.

Timeline

The project is out to tender as of June/July 2024, and the City expects to start construction in late Q3 of 2024 – likely September.   The project is expected to last 12 months, with a pause for the month of December 2024.

Phase 1 - Salt Lane to 206th

The proposed first phase will be the back-half of the one way, from Salt Lane to 206th Street.

During construction,  while pedestrian traffic will be maintained with fenced-off corridors, vehicle traffic will be blocked and will divert north onto Salt Lane from Fraser Highway.

A temporary parking lot adjacent to City Hall will be provided for additional parking during construction.

Generally, construction will be permitted as per bylaws between 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 5pm Saturday.  Some night-time work may be permitted as well.

The second phase will focus on the front-half of the one way, starting at Glover Road/204th.  A starting date for this phase is not confirmed.

During this phase, car traffic will again be blocked from Fraser Highway.  Vehicles will be able to access the one-way by going south on Salt Lane from 56th avenue, and then turning left onto Fraser Highway.   Pedestrian traffic will be maintained through fenced-off corridors.

A temporary parking lot adjacent to City Hall will be provided for additional parking during construction.

Generally, construction will be permitted as per bylaws between 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 5pm Saturday.  Some night-time work may be permitted as well.
