Funding: AgriMarketing Program Opens February 13 for Food and Ag Businesses
Canadian agri-food businesses have a new opportunity to access federal funding to support export growth and market diversification with the launch of the $75 million AgriMarketing Program: Market Diversification stream, with applications opening February 13, 2026.
This program is designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises in the agriculture, agri-food, agri-products, fish, and seafood sectors pursue new markets and strengthen long-term resilience in the face of global trade disruptions.
The program prioritizes projects that strengthen trade resilience, respond to trade disruptions, and support market development activities aimed at high-growth and emerging regions such as Africa, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific, while also supporting increased interprovincial trade.
What the Program Offers
Eligible businesses can access:
- Non-repayable contributions of up to $100,000 per project
- Up to 70% of eligible project costs covered by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC)
- Funding support for activities such as:
- Trade missions
- Market research
- Marketing strategies
- Promotional initiatives
- Other market development activities
To qualify, applicants must:
- Have fewer than 500 full-time equivalent employees
- Be directly involved in growing, harvesting, processing, transforming, or consolidating agricultural or seafood products
- Be either:
- A for-profit SME (including partnerships, corporations, co-operatives, and communes), or
- An Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) individual or organization operating a for-profit business
This is a cost-shared program, meaning project costs are split between business and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC):
- Government funding for up to 70% of eligible project costs
- 30% of the costs borne by applicant
AAFC will host a series of virtual national information sessions, beginning February 12, 2026, to walk businesses through the program details and application requirements and provide an opportunity to ask questions.
