Funding Available to Support Exporters with CUSMA Compliance
B.C.-based businesses exporting to the United States may be eligible for financial support through the CUSMA Compliance Advisory Services Initiative (CCASI), a program designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises navigate U.S. tariffs and strengthen compliance with the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
The CCASI program supports eligible businesses by reimbursing 50% of approved advisory and professional service costs, up to a maximum of $5,000. Funding can be used to access technical expertise from qualified service providers in Canada or the United States, including customs brokers, trade consultants, trade lawyers, and compliance specialists, among others. These supports are intended to help businesses better understand and meet CUSMA requirements, reducing risk and improving cross-border trade efficiency.
Who Can Apply
Your business may be eligible if it:
- Is registered in British Columbia
- Has exported to the U.S. within the past 12 months
- Has incurred eligible costs on or after April 1, 2025
What Costs Are Covered
Approved businesses can receive reimbursement for 50% of eligible expenses related to CUSMA compliance, to a maximum of $5,000. Eligible services include professional advice and support from customs brokers, trade consultants, trade lawyers, compliance specialists, and other qualified providers based in Canada or the United States.
Why CUSMA Compliance Matters
Becoming CUSMA compliant can help businesses:
