Have Your Say: Township OCP Update and New Amenity Cost Charges

In response to new provincial housing legislation, the Township is updating its Official Community Plan (OCP). The update will focus on expanding housing options, encouraging transit-oriented development in key areas like Willoughby, and advancing climate action. These changes will set the blueprint for how our community grows and how new density is supported in the years ahead.
At the same time, the Township is exploring the introduction of Amenity Cost Charges (ACCs). These are new fees that would be collected from new developments to help fund amenities such as community centres, libraries, daycares, and recreation facilities. ACCs are separate from Development Cost Charges (DCCs), which cover core infrastructure like roads, sewers, water, and drainage. The new fee structure has potential cost implications for both residential and commercial development, which in turn affects business investment and affordability.
With both initiatives moving forward, this is a opportunity for the Langley business community to provide input. The Township has been holding open houses to hear from residents, businesses, and community groups, with the final one on October 2:
