Highway 1 Access Changes at 264 Street: What Langley Businesses Need to Know

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has announced upcoming traffic pattern changes near the 264 Street interchange in Aldergrove, as part of the ongoing Highway 1 widening project through the Fraser Valley.

Highway 1 West onto 264
Effective as early as tomorrow Friday, May 23 (weather permitting), westbound drivers exiting Highway 1 at 264 Street will be redirected to a new off-ramp leading to a new signalized intersection. This intersection will allow motorists to turn left (southbound) or right (northbound) onto 264th Street. The existing northwest-ramp at 264th Street will be closed.

Highway 1 East onto 264
Then, starting as early as Friday, June 13, eastbound drivers will begin using a separate new off-ramp that connects to another new intersection allowing left or right turns onto 56 Avenue.
Drivers continuing to 264th Street will need to turn left onto 56th Avenue, then proceed to the intersection at 56th Avenue and 264th Street to turn left (northbound) or right (southbound).

With this change, cars and trucks going east and wanting to exit at 264 will need to do so 500 metre/ ½ kilometre earlier than they are used to.

These changes are necessary to support construction of the new 264 Street interchange and will remain in place until the new interchange is complete.

Why it matters:
Local businesses that rely on Highway 1 access for staff, customers, or shipments should be aware of these traffic shifts and adjust travel times and routing accordingly, particularly the earlier exit for 264th street on Highway 1 eastbound.
