Highway 1 Traffic Pattern Changes Coming to 264th Street

Drivers travelling through the Highway 1 corridor at 264th Street should prepare for a significant traffic pattern change as work continues on the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program.

Beginning as early as Saturday, July 11, eastbound Highway 1 lanes will shift north of the existing median near 264th Street. The eastbound off-ramp to 264th Street, Exit 73, will also begin approximately one kilometre west of its current location.

That off-ramp change is an important one for local businesses, employees, commercial drivers, and truck operators to be aware of. When highway exits are temporarily relocated, drivers unfamiliar with the new pattern can miss the turnoff and continue east toward Abbotsford, adding significant time to their trip. Businesses may want to share this update with staff, customers, suppliers, and delivery drivers who regularly use the 264th Street interchange.

The temporary traffic pattern is expected to remain in place until November 2026 and is required to allow crews to complete improvements to eastbound Highway 1, including drainage work, utility relocations, and structure demolition.

Drivers should plan for possible delays, allow additional travel time, use caution through the construction zone, follow posted signage and traffic-control personnel, and watch for roadside workers.

The work is part of the broader Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program, which is aimed at improving capacity and movement along one of the region’s most important transportation and trade corridors.
