Langley Chamber Applauds Investment in Second Stage Housing for Langley

The Langley Chamber welcomes this week’s announcement of 80 new, second-stage housing units open for women and children in Langley escaping violence.

The Province, through BC Housing, purchased the newly built property in Langley to serve as long-term affordable housing and second-stage transition housing. The projects were developed in partnership with YWCA BC and Ishtar Women’s Resource Society, marking a significant expansion of support for survivors of violence.

“The Chamber knows how important second stage housing is to supporting women in breaking the cycle of violence and we’re pleased to see Langley now have a full continuum of housing supports with this project. We thank the Province for this important investment and, Ishtar Women's Resource Society and YWCA BC – both Chamber members – for their leadership,” says Cory Redekop, CEO of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce.

The new six-storey housing development in the Township of Langley is now open, offering a total of 80 homes designed to support women and women-led families, including those leaving violence.
Of the 80 homes, 33 are second-stage housing for women and their children leaving violence, operated by Ishtar Women’s Resource Society. The remaining 47 units are long-term affordable rentals for women and women-led families, operated by YWCA BC.
