Langley Chamber Hosts Translink CEO for Wide-Ranging Talk and Discussion on Transit Needs in Langley

Over 120 business owners, professionals, and local leaders convened on March 28th for the Langley Chamber's most recent Dinner Meeting which featured Kevin Quinn, CEO of Translink, providing an address and update on transit and transportation in Langley and the south-of-the-Fraser region.

The event began with an initial networking reception and dinner, offered attendees a prime opportunity to build and strengthen connections with fellow business owners and professionals from Langley beyond, before hearing from the Translink CEO for a presentation on Translink's strategic plans and priorities, with particular focus on enhancements in Langley and the broader southern Fraser region, and its long-term funding needs.

With one-third of the region's population relying on transit for mobility each week, public transportation is integral to the mobility and success of Langley and our region. As Langley continues to grow and see significant ridership growth (22% year-over-year ridership growth in our part of the region), Kevin Quinn announced forthcoming enhancements to bus services across most Langley routes, including the busy route that services much of Langley, including the 200th corridor and the Port Kells/Walnut Grove industrial areas.

Kevin Quinn also introduced the audience to the planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system along 200th Street, a new investment that will provide a quick, dedicated service to Langley not seen before.  Kevin Quinn also noted that bus service to the Gloucester industrial district has been identified on Translink plans as an area for future service.

The evening concluded with a wide-ranging discussion between Kevin Quinn and Langley Chamber CEO Cory Redekop which delved into a variety of topics, including the financial hurdles Translink faces, the opportunities for transit growth in Langley, and the needs of the region's business community in regards to transit.
