Langley Chamber Welcomes Federal Action to Advance Roberts Bank Terminal 2
The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce is applauding the Government of Canada’s new Port of Vancouver Gateway Strategy, including the move to advance Roberts Bank Terminal 2 as a project of national interest.
This is an important advocacy win for BC’s business community.
The Langley Chamber has long supported Roberts Bank Terminal 2 and has advocated for the project to move forward as a critical piece of trade infrastructure for our region, our province, and Canada’s economy. This is exactly the type of nation-building project governments need to prioritize if Canada is serious about strengthening supply chains, growing exports, and helping businesses reach more customers around the world.
The Port of Vancouver is Canada’s largest and most diversified port, with approximately $1 billion in cargo moving through it each day. Roberts Bank Terminal 2 would create 320 acres of new industrial land, increase the Port of Vancouver’s container capacity by 50%, and support thousands of supply-chain jobs.
For Langley businesses, this matters.
Our community is directly connected to the regional trade gateway through manufacturing, transportation, logistics, warehousing, agriculture, food production, construction, professional services, and the broader supply chain. When the port has more capacity, better infrastructure, and stronger connections to global markets, businesses across the Fraser Valley benefit.
This is the kind of practical, pro-growth progress the Chamber works to advance behind the scenes through our advocacy with government, business organizations, and regional partners. Not every advocacy effort is visible day to day, but decisions like this show why it matters for the business community to keep pushing for better infrastructure, stronger trade capacity, and a more competitive economy.
The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce welcomes this important step forward and encourages governments to continue advancing Roberts Bank Terminal 2 without unnecessary delay.
