Langley Chamber Welcomes Gwangyang City Trade Delegation and Supports New International Partnership
The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce was pleased to welcome a senior trade delegation from Gwangyang City, South Korea this week, including the Mayor and key economic and industry leaders, to explore opportunities for collaboration, investment, and two-way business connections.
Gwangyang is home to one of the world’s largest steel production complexes and a rapidly growing industrial and logistics hub, positioning it as a strategic partner for advancing supply chain innovation, clean manufacturing solutions, and industrial development.
As part of the visit, the Township of Langley and the City of Gwangyang formally signed a Friendship City Agreement to foster continued ties and ongoing cooperation between the two communities, supporting cultural exchange, business connectivity, and future partnership opportunities.
During discussions, both sides highlighted areas of shared economic strength, including steel and materials, advanced manufacturing, industrial supply chains, and opportunities for Langley businesses to explore sourcing partnerships and market connections in Korea. The delegation also expressed interest in Langley’s fast-growing business environment and transportation infrastructure.
“As Langley continues to grow its economic footprint in advanced manufacturing, logistics, and industrial development, creating direct ties to global partners like Gwangyang can help local businesses explore new markets and strengthen supply chain resilience,” said Cory Redekop, CEO of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce. “We were pleased to support this new Friendship City relationship and look forward to building connections that create future opportunities for Langley-based firms.”
Businesses interested in trade, sourcing, or partnership opportunities with Korean firms are encouraged to contact the Langley Chamber for more information.
