Langley Chamber Welcomes New President, Board of Directors at 2023 Annual General Meeting

The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce, the association serving businesses across Langley Township and City, held its 2023 Annual General Meeting on September 26th, with 120 attendees gathering to hear updates from the Chamber on the past year, hear a special presentation on A.I. and impacts and opportunities for local businesses, and welcome the new Board of Directors, including the election of the new Board President Chris Drinovz.

The AGM featured a presentation of the 2022-23 financial reports, the adoption of select bylaw amendments to improve the efficiency of the organization's governance, the swearing-in of 5 new Board Directors, and the election of our new Board leadership, with a new President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Past President assuming these key roles.

The Board of Directors (meet them here) is a group of 14 volunteers elected from the Chamber membership to oversee the strategic governance of the organization.  Leading the Board of Directors are 4 executive officer positions, all of which welcomed new members to the roles.

The Langley Chamber is pleased to welcome Chris Drinovz, of KSW Lawyers, as the new President of the Langley Chamber.  Chris is an experienced employment and labour lawyer and the head of the Employment & Labour Group at KSW, and will now lead the Board of Directors in his role as President.  Chris provided his Incoming President's Report at the AGM, thanking the departing Directors for their work, and in particular outgoing President Ken Dennis, who has lead the Board for the past two years.   Chris's inaugural report also focused on the continued growth of the Chamber -- now one of the largest in the region -- and the increased effort being put into developing programming, conducting advocacy work, and sharing economic data and resources with local businesses.

Ken Dennis (formerly President) assumed the role of Past President and Shaun Howe (formerly Treasurer) was elected to assume the role of Vice President.  Newly-elected Director Jackie Leung (SHL Leung & Co) was elected to join the Board in the position of Treasurer.

Other Directors elected included Dan Collins (Inclusion Langley) and Jack Nicholson (Otter Co-op) who were re-elected to the Board, and four new Directors who are joining the Board for the first time:  Angela Doro (Freybe Gourmet Foods), Sherrin Western (Shervin Communications), Nick Nuraney (A&W Langley) and Leslie Koole (Benchmark Properties).

"The Board of Directors provides critical oversight, governance and strategic direction for the organization, and represent a wealth of insight and experience that the Chamber can draw on to support our work in the business community.  I'd like to thank them all for stepping up to serve this important organization and our membership," says Cory Redekop, CEO of the Langley Chamber.

Departing the Board this year include Brad Kiendl (Ashdown Capital) who exits after serving as President for the 2019-2021 term, as well as Joshua Peters (New Car Dealers Association of BC), Jon Chescoe (Ascension Benefits) and Angie Quaale (Well Seasoned Gourmet Food Store), who rejoined the Board to support the organization two years ago after serving as President for the 2012-2013 term.
