Our heart goes out to those who are currently stranded and to those who have been hit hard, including farmers who have lost livestock and other business owners in Abbotsford and Chilliwack. Tales are emerging of heroes who have worked tirelessly to transport essential goods, save pumps from failing, feed those in need, and save property and animals. For those looking to support these efforts, we encourage you to join us in donating to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund started by the Abbotsford Community Foundation or other similar relief effort. We were less impacted in Langley, but we do have a few organizations that received extensive damage due to the Nicomekl River flooding. Langley Senior Resources Society and Langley Community Services Society are cleaning up and assessing damages to buildings. Many businesses have come forward wanting to help in some way, we ask you to consider reaching out to these organizations to support their recovery efforts.

The Canadian Red Cross has launched the British Columbia Floods and Extreme Weather Appeal. People can make donations online at www.redcross.ca or by calling 1-800-418-1111.
The Salvation Army has also launched an Emergency Flood Relief Appeal at salvationarmy.ca/BCFlood or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
United Way British Columbia – working with communities in BC’s Interior, Lower Mainland, Central and Northern Vancouver Island, has established the United for BC Flood Response Fund, http://www.donate.uwbc.ca/flood
