One-Way Construction Project Prepares to Move to Next Phase

The City of Langley is underway with major construction along Fraser Highway, between Glover Road/204th and 206th street – known as the Fraser Highway one-way.

The project will upgrade and replace aging underground infrastructure and improve and revitalize streetscapes along the one-way, including widening sidewalks, planting trees and greenery, building new seating areas, and more.

Business remain OPEN during the entire project, and at least part of the one-way will be open.  Business access and sidewalks are open and accessible at all times.  For information on access and parking, see our project page >

Transitioning from Phase I to Phase II

Currently, the project is in phase I, which has closed the eastern section of the one-way from Salt Lane to 206th.   The majority of the roadworks on this phase will be complete at the end of this month, and the road should re-open on the morning of Monday, March 31.

That morning will also mark the start of phase II of the project, which will see the one-way closed from the Glover Road/204th entrance through to Salt Lane.

At that time, Salt Lane will reverse direction and will be the entrance to the one-way. Drivers will be able to access the one-way by entering Salt Lane from 56th avenue, and then turning left onto Fraser Highway.

What to Expect Next?

For businesses in the Phase II section of the one-way, you should notice fencing begin to be erected – much like it already in place in Phase I – on March 28 and 29, leading up to the closure on March 31.

The contractor is planning to visit businesses in this phase over the coming weeks to share information and gather any input or questions.  In the meantime, if you have questions or concerns, you can reach out to the City’s point person for the project at mgill@cateng.ca or you can contact the Chamber directly >

For businesses in the Phase I section, sidewalks and hardscaping still needs to be completed.   When the sidewalks are to be poured, the contractor will also be consulting with individual businesses about the timing to retain access and limit disruptions.
