Proposed Transit Service for Gloucester: Input Needed from Businesses

TransLink is seeking feedback from the Gloucester business community as it plans a new bus route connecting Langley Centre and the Gloucester Industrial Park.  Take the survey >

The proposed service would operate along 56 Avenue and provide transit access directly into the industrial park — an area that currently has limited public transit options despite being one of Langley’s fastest-growing employment areas.

The Langley Chamber has been advocating for improved transit access to Gloucester for many years, recognizing that better transit connections are critical for businesses facing workforce shortages and commuting challenges. Improved transit access can help businesses expand their labour pool, support employees who rely on transit, and reduce transportation barriers to employment.

If implemented, this new route would represent a significant step forward for the local business community.   Businesses are being invited to provide input and information to inform the route timing and stop locations.  Information on operating hours and employee counts will be critical.

Survey:

TransLink is gathering employer feedback through a short survey. The Chamber has advocated and Translink has committed that feedback from employers and employees will directly inform the final design to ensure it reflects real workforce patterns.

The survey is brief, but will ask for:

  • Employee Count
  • Operating Days
  • Shift times
  • Current Commuting Methods of your Employees

Survey deadline is March 25.

Businesses and employees can take the survey here: http://www.translink.ca/gloucester

What’s Being Proposed

TransLink is currently proposing:

  • A new peak-period bus route travelling along 56 Avenue between Langley Centre and the Gloucester Industrial Park
  • Service every 30 minutes during morning and afternoon peak periods, Monday to Friday
  • A one-way loop within the industrial park with approximately six new stops (final stop locations still to be determined)
The service is funded through TransLink’s 2025 Investment Plan and is expected to begin operating in late 2026, pending final planning and consultation.

Why Business Input Matters

TransLink is asking employers and employees in the Gloucester area to provide feedback to help shape the final route and service design.

They are particularly interested in hearing about:
  • Employee commuting patterns and shift schedules
  • Preferred stop locations and walking distances
  • Safety and accessibility considerations
  • Any barriers that may prevent employees from using transit
Input from businesses will help ensure the route is designed to best support the needs of Gloucester’s workforce and employers.

The Langley Chamber encourages Gloucester-area businesses to participate in the consultation and share their insights. Strong participation from employers will help ensure the final service works effectively for the businesses and employees who will rely on it.
