SkyTrain Construction Update: Fall Work Continues, Willowbrook Drive Closure Coming September 23–26

Construction on the Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension continues to adance along Fraser Highway, with the latest project advisory outlining work planned from September through November 2026.

For the Langley end of the project, current activity includes construction of foundations, columns and the elevated guideway, station construction, ongoing pile driving along Industrial Avenue, and operation of a launching gantry that is installing guideway sections as it moves east. Some of this work is taking place overnight and with extended construction hours. (Surrey Langley Skytrain)

Businesses, employees and customers travelling through the corridor should continue to expect changing traffic patterns and periodic access restrictions as work progresses. The project team publishes weekly traffic advisories with the most current information, as schedules can change. (Surrey Langley Skytrain)

Upcoming Closure at Willowbrook Drive / 196 Street
One significant traffic change is coming later this month near Willowbrook.
From September 23 to 26, there will be no access to or from Willowbrook Drive/196 Street north of Fraser Highway while crews install sections of the elevated guideway. (Surrey Langley Skytrain)

During the closure:

  • Alternate routes will be available using 64 Avenue, 196 Street, Highway 10/Langley Bypass and 200 Street.
  • One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open on Fraser Highway.
  • Access to businesses in the area will be maintained through alternate approaches, including 64 Avenue, Willowbrook Drive/196 Street and 200 Street.
  • Overnight construction will occur, with additional equipment activity and noise expected.
Businesses in and around Willowbrook should consider advising employees, customers, suppliers and delivery drivers of the closure in advance and allowing additional travel time.

Other Work Underway in Langley
Construction is also continuing around Industrial Avenue and 203 Street, where concrete work on the elevated guideway is requiring temporary intersection and lane closures on selected dates in September. Business and residential access is being maintained. (Surrey Langley Skytrain)

BC Hydro is also continuing work required to supply power to the future SkyTrain system, including cable installation and other electrical infrastructure along portions of the corridor. (BC Hydro)

The Chamber recognizes that major construction creates real challenges for businesses along the route, particularly when it affects customer access, employee travel, deliveries and visibility. At the same time, the Surrey Langley SkyTrain represents a major long-term transportation investment for our community.

We encourage businesses operating near the construction corridor to stay informed and share upcoming traffic changes with staff and customers.  The Chamber meets regularly with the project team and can bring specific business concerns to their attention.  Contact the Chamber with inquiries or concerns >
