Update on 208th Street Widening

The Township of Langley is moving ahead with the next step in the widening of 208th street from 72nd Ave. south to 64th Ave.  This is a critical infrastructure and connectivity project, and the Chamber is actively monitoring and engaging with the project team on timelines, closures and the impact on business.

  • 68th to 70th Avenue Portion
Construction is moving up 208th and there will be work conducted along 208th between 68th and 70th avenue.  The Langley Chamber has spoken with the project team on the details. The existing southbound lane will be shifted over to the painted median, while work is conducted along the western side of 208th.  During this time, two-way traffic will be maintained, with all three lanes remaining open at this time.

  • Northbound Road Closure

As part of the construction, a northbound lane closure will be required on the Willowbrook Connector between 65 Avenue and 68 Avenue as the existing two-lane wide road section is insufficient to accommodate construction activities while maintaining northbound traffic.  The northbound lane is in effect 24 hours a day, 7-days a week currently, with a planned re-opening in March, but the Langley Chamber has been in discussion with the project team and with Mayor and Council on the importance of accelerating this reopening.
