Year-End Message to Members from the CEO

As 2025 comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a significant year for the Langley Chamber and for our business community.

This past year reinforced why the Chamber exists: to build community and to have the back of business. In an environment shaped by significant tariff and trade challenges, ongoing economic uncertainty, crime issues, and advancing technology, our focus remained clear — to represent our members’ interests, be a source of support, and create meaningful opportunities for connection.

The Langley Chamber now represents over 1,220 member businesses, making us BC’s fastest-growing chamber and one of the fastest-growing in Canada. That growth reflects both the strength of Langley’s business community and the trust members place in the Chamber to be a credible advocate and convener.

Advocacy that Reflects Real Business Issues
Advocacy continued to be a core focus this year. Guided by member feedback, our Board, and our Government Policy Committee, we advanced business-focused positions on issues affecting the cost of doing business, labour policy, transportation and infrastructure, crime, and trade. We were particularly active on tariffs and trade disruption, developing the Chamber’s Tariff Toolkit — one of the most comprehensive resources produced by any local chamber — and ensuring Langley business concerns were represented in media and government discussions.

From the need for transportation infrastructure, to the cost of minimum wage increases and paid sick leave, to the impacts of Canada Post and BC Liquor Distribution shutdowns, to the importance of shopping local and investing in small businesses, we worked to ensure Langley’s voice was regularly featured in media outlets from the Langley Advance, to CKNW, Global News, CBC, and more, so that our needs are not overshadowed by larger parts of our region.

Through our provincial and national chamber networks, we also authored and advanced 5 thoughtful policy resolutions that were adopted with overwhelming support by the BC Chamber and Canadian Chamber of Commerce, amplifying Langley’s voice beyond our local community and helping us push our priorities forward.   These covered issues as diverse as the Zero Carbon Step Code, Paid Sick Leave, and Export Supports for Small Business, all unified around the need for pro-growth decisions by government.

Connection, Programming, and Community Building
Events and programming remain one of the most visible ways the Chamber connects and supports our members. This year, we hosted more than 55 members-only events, from business mixers and breakfasts to policy forums and training sessions, plus signature events such as the Langley Business Excellence Awards and our Annual Chamber Golf Tournament, and keynote speaker events like with the Mayors of the City and Township of Langley, BC’s Minister of Finance, and more.

We also continued to expand additional programming through our popular Langley Women’s Business Network, and the newly-launched Langley Next Gen Business Network for the under-40 crowd, creating new platforms for connection, learning, and leadership development within our growing membership.

Behind the scenes, initiatives like the Langley Business Directory to support shopping local, and our award-winning collaboration with the Langley Local Immigration Partnership to connect newcomers and businesses, all contributed to strengthening the local economy.

Looking Ahead to the New Year
The business environment remains complex, and there are no easy answers ahead. But what remains constant is the value of having a connected, supportive business community, and a strong, united business voice.
In 2026, the Langley Chamber will continue to focus on our advocacy, education, and connection roles, while expanding programming and offerings in new areas as well, including our new Langley Asia Pacific Business Network, new programming for our non-profit members, and exploring creating new small, peer group learning opportunities.

Thank you to our members, Board of Directors, partners, sponsors, and Chamber team for your continued trust, involvement, and commitment to Langley’s business community.

I wish you all the best for the holidays, and here’s to a successful 2026!

Take care,

Cory Redekop
