DESCRIPTION:The Langley Local Immigration Partnership (LLIP) and the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce are co-hosting a series of sessions exploring Langley's pool of skilled immigrant talent and ways to access this talent to address your skills shortage.\n\n \n\nJoin us for this free event!\n\nGiven our persistent labour shortage\, this event will feature discussions and insights on how to access\, find and engage skilled new immigrants into your workforce.\n\nHear from some of Langley's newest residents\, learn about the skills and experience they hold\, the contributions they want to make and the challenges they are facing and learn how some employers have successfully accessed this talent.\n\nThe FACTS\n\n\n	In 2021\, nearly 23% of Langley's 159\,000 residents were immigrants\n	It is estimated that 38% of all current and future jobs will be filled by immigrants\n	In a 2021 survey\, immigrants reported having pre-arrival experience in 98 different occupations\n	Only 48% of immigrant respondents were employed AND only 19% in their field\n	New federal targets for immigration: 2023   465\,000\, 2024   485\,000 and 2025   500\,000\n	From 2016 to 2021\, Langley's population grew by 12.6% and the immigrant population by 35.4%\n	Skills and labour shortages are a critical issue in Langley\n\n This event will explore these QUESTIONS:\n\n\n	Who are your potential employees\, clients\, customers\, neighbours\, colleagues?\n	Why are trained and experienced immigrants not working?\n	Are new immigrants a viable source of skilled labour for your organization?\n	What gets in the way of hiring foreign trained workers?\n	What approaches are required to recruit\, hire\, and retain new immigrant workers?\n\n\n *This is not a job fair.
