Langley's Walk to Remember
Langley's Walk to Remember - A Community Memorial Event
On Tuesday, November 16th, 2021, in recognition of National Bereavement Day, we will be holding our first Walk to Remember a memorial walk at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum to acknowledge community members that have been impacted by death of a loved one. These have been challenging times for so many, and we want you to know that you?re not alone. A beautiful memorial ornament has been created featuring the dogwood flower and a local sponsor has provided funding for the printing of these on weather friendly synthetic paper so they can be personalized and hung onsite at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum, and used in interactive visual memorial displays at care homes, facilities, and other spaces throughout the community. This artwork is a small way to acknowledge grief and loss individually and as a community, and our hope is: to provide an opportunity for individuals to share and support one another; to acknowledge individual and collective losses; and to remember loved ones as we continue to move through these challenging time, as a community.
Local music groups and others will be invited to perform in small groups onsite throughout the day. Activities will culminate in a candlelight memorial walk at 7:00pm that evening. There will be lights and lanterns and memorial ornaments hung on the trees along the pathway. Friends and neighbours are invited to come by, walk the path and personalize an ornament, and volunteers will be on hand to provide support and resources
If you are a local community group or organization that would like to pre-order ornaments, please click the link below to download an order form and return to us via email at: info@langleyhospice.ca.
