Ombudsperson Report on "The Best of Care: Getting it Right for Seniors in BC"
The Langley Senior Centre has arranged for the BC provincial Ombudsperson, Kim Carter, to speak on her second report ?The Best of Care: Getting it Right for Seniors in BC?.
In 2008 Ombudsperson Kim Carter launched her systemic investigation into seniors? care issues and in December 2009, The Best of Care: Getting it Right for Seniors in BC (Part 1) was released. Earlier this year the Ombudsperson released the second part of her offices three year investigation. Part 2 is a comprehensive and in depth investigation that examines home support, assisted living and residential care services currently provided to seniors and includes 143 findings and 176 issues on administrative fairness, including adequacy of information, program accessibility, standards of care, and monitoring and enforcement of standards. The recommendations are designed to improve home and community care, home support, assisted living and residential care services for seniors.
Kim Carter, Ombudsperson, and Bruce Ronayne, Executive Director of Systemic Investigations, are scheduled to present. All persons, including Seniors, people or groups who work with seniors, organizations representing service providers or senior care workers, advocates, and all others concerned about seniors are welcome to attend.
